Want to help grow the game of deck pickleball in a grassroots way? You can play a significant role in building a vibrant community around deck pickleball and help the sport gain traction. Anyone who is passionate about deck pickleball and wants to help grow the game can take the following ten steps to increase awareness and encourage more people to get involved:  

  1. Organize Local Tournaments and Events: Hosting deck pickleball tournaments or friendly matches in your community can draw interest and introduce new players to the game. Consider setting up demonstration events at local parks, schools, or sports clubs to showcase the sport.  
  2. Share on Social Media: Leverage social media platforms to spread the word about deck pickleball. Share your experiences, tips, and videos of gameplay to create buzz and connect with others who might be interested. Use hashtags like #DeckPickleball to reach a wider audience.  
  3. Create a Deck Pickleball Club: Start a local club where enthusiasts can regularly meet to play, share strategies, and recruit new members. A dedicated group can help maintain interest and ensure there are always players available for a game.  
  4. Partner with Pickleball Facilities: Collaborate with existing pickleball facilities and clubs to introduce deck pickleball as a complementary sport. Offering deck pickleball as an additional activity could attract pickleball players who are curious about trying something new.  
  5. Teach and Mentor New Players: Offer to teach deck pickleball to friends, family, or community members. Hosting beginner sessions or clinics can make the game more accessible to those who may be hesitant to try it on their own.  
  6. Engage with Media: Write articles, blog posts, or even pitch stories to local media about the rise of deck pickleball. Highlight the benefits of the game and how it offers a new twist on the popular sport of pickleball.  
  7. Collaborate with Schools and Youth Programs: Introducing deck pickleball to schools or youth programs can help engage younger players and build a new generation of enthusiasts. Offering it as part of physical education programs or after-school activities can lead to wider adoption. 
  8. Develop Partnerships: Partner with local businesses or sports equipment retailers to sponsor events or promote deck pickleball gear. This can help make the game more visible and encourage more people to take it up.  
  9. Support the DPWW: Engage with and support Deck Pickleball Worldwide (DPWW) in its efforts to grow the game. Whether through membership, volunteering, or contributing ideas, being part of the official governing body’s initiatives can amplify your efforts to raise awareness.  
  10. Spread the Word: Finally, simply talking about deck pickleball with friends, coworkers, and acquaintances can spark interest. The more people hear about the game, the more curious they’ll become to try it themselves.
